Volunteering

Kids House

Kids House is an advocacy center for physically, mentally, and sexually abused children. I've volunteered there since I was five years old, but it's only since I've grown older that I've come to fully appreciate the incredible impact that the organization makes. Through forensic interviews, medical exams, victim support, and trauma therapy, Kids House supports victims of abuse and trauma in a child-friendly environment. The House collaborates closely with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department and hospital to support victims in need.

I've learned so much from working with Kids House — not only about the ways children can rebound from abuse, but also about how nonprofits work in practice. I assist the gala committee, soliciting businesses for in-kind-donations to be auctioned off. I also help set-up for the annual fundraiser and work on community outreach. Since I began volunteering with Kids House it’s expanded exponentially, and I’ve been part of a team that has raised millions for this worthy cause. I'm so proud of the experiences I've had, and hope to continue working to support abuse survivors throughout college and the rest of my life.
